Based on the entries so far, I think it is clear what translators think about this contest.
Time to update the rules and make them transparent and fair, don't you think?

Except I won't. Judging from KudoZ, I imagine my pearls will be trampled to bits by the word-for-word mob.

you will get elementary grammar lessons in your own language by eager non-native speakers.

Non-transparent contest rules and illogical winner determination@ProZ

Are you waiting for someone to make a complaint to the authorities?
What does it cost to finally make those changes?

What about making your contest rules compliant with consumer protection laws,
instead of posting boring polls?

The English source text is a sloppy, amateurish piece of writing. I wouldn't want to translate it professionally. Why would anyone do it for fun?

Because they are masochistic and want to be frustrated by not understanding (and not being told) why they did not win despite they got the most points?

What members have said about ProZ.com translation contests

Honestly, It was a challenging experience as you feel the pressure that all eyes will be on your translation and I was able to win one of the contests after a couple of tries. I learned a lot from my mistakes I did during the previous contests. I believe that every translator should give it a try to see how he/she is doing.

I'm so happy with having won the contest in my pair and having deserved a prize. Thank you very much, ProZ.com!

I think everyone appreciates what you people are doing to improve the wonderful learning and exchange space these contests give us (which I think, it is all what they are about). Cheers!
